Fourth of July Weekend

We had a relaxing holiday weekend. We spent Friday swimming at Grandpa Spooner’s pool. On Saturday we joined our neighborhood parade which is followed by a pancake brunch and play time for the kids. We spent the morning decorating Nolan’s bike, and then he decided he was feeling too sick to ride it.

On Saturday night we went to Jamison Fountain to play in the water and have ice cream. The boys had a long day, and were tired so they were in bed before fireworks started. It’s hard to believe they have never seen any big fireworks displays, but the thought of them staying up until 11pm is way too scary to even consider; they would be  grouchy beasts for days afterward.

Mother’s Day Weekend

We had a busy and interesting Mother’s Day weekend, starting with a trip to a pediatric cardiologist for Haakon –nothing serious, just a minor heart  murmur that he’ll likely grow out of. Followed on Saturday with a Mother’s Day run with Nolan. Saturday afternoon Marshal put up a porch swing for Haakon and we all enjoyed a sunny, 84 degree day in May! And Sunday afternoon we all went for a jog/bike ride/walk in the sun. Happy Mother’s Day!

Nolan, the photographer

We received a DSLR camera as a gift over the weekend –thank you Gordon– and Nolan wouldn’t put it down. He has always enjoyed taking pictures, and we find hilarious and oddly artistic pictures on our phones all the time. Some of his recent photos with the new camera are below. He has a talent for choosing interesting subjects and a surprising ability to frame things. All of the photos are unedited. Nice job, Peanut!

Sick Day Projects

Marshal stayed home to help out today, and made some new mobiles while the boys were at school and Haakon napped. This is a smaller version of our Viking boat mobile. The boat are approximately 2.5 inches long. Super cute! Thanks babe!

Kindergarten? Already?

Marshal registered our oldest baby for kindergarten today. We can’t believe Nolan will be in kindergarten in the fall. It seems like just yesterday he was a cuddly little baby boy.

And just being a happy, friendly little boy who says all of his pre-school classmates are his best friends.

We love you Peanut, but you’re growing up too fast.
